Progress marks for year long classes and final marks for quarter and semester classes may start appearing as early as the end of the week. All teachers will have all of their marks completed and scholarly habits entered by Jan. 7th. We will send an email out when all progress marks for all classes have been completed.
Many students elective classes will change, and students will receive a new schedule when they return to school Tuesday, Jan. 7th.
Winter MAPS Testing (Repeat) This week the window for Winter MAPS testing in Reading, Math and Science will be open and we will be testing between now and the middle of January. We use this data to evaluate student growth and make adjustments based on their needs. One of our goals for our Unified Improvement Plan is to have 55% or more of our students making above average growth over the year. We use MAPS testing as an interim check to see how much students have grown over the past several months, and to see if we are on track with our goal. We will be rewarding grade levels that achieve this goal with 15 extra minutes of lunch recess. Each grade will have the opportunity to earn 3 different day of extended lunch for Reading, Math and Science MAPS tests. We are excited to report out the results at the end of January. Our students have been working hard day in and day out, and the results have been very positive. Keep up the great work!
Sources of Strength/Positive Action
Positive Action connection for January! Being positive means doing so in our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
This month, PAC challenges you to be a good friend and classmate by being respectful of others. For example, being aware of others in the hallways and stepping aside when it is passing time. Each time we make our hallways more friendly we are living the PAC values! Counseling Department
The Counseling Department wants to thank (Repeat) the hundreds of students, parents and staff that helped us collect food and gifts to brighten the holidays for members of our Silver Hills family. Special shout-outs goes to the three classes that collected the most food this year: Mrs. Cunningham's 6th grade science, Mrs. Brown's 7th grade social studies and Mr. Brown's 8th grade math class. Their generosity earned them a donut party, and GOOD FEELINGS!
