Safety and Security

Parking Lot Reminders Now that the weather has gotten cooler, many families and students want to wait in the car before school starts.  If you choose to wait in the car, please make sure that you are in the parking lot.  There is NO PARKING in the drop off lane in the morning before school.  This area needs to be left open for parents to pull in, drop off and pull back out.

Crosswalk Safety When you are in the school parking lot, or driving on 124th, please make sure that you are slowing down at all crosswalks, and if there is a student/adult waiting at the crosswalk, please stop and allow them to cross.  These areas are very busy at drop off and pick up, and we appreciate your extra attention and time to keep all of our kids safe.

Last day of the first semester is Thursday, Dec. 16th.  Staff will be reporting out on student progress and scholarly habits at this mid-year point, and we will inform you when the final progress marks are completed.

STORM Time/Sources of Strength

A key idea of Storm Time is that: Positive Thoughts, Lead to Positive Actions, Lead to Positive Feelings which enables more informed positive choices for a lifetime.  This is woven throughout the lessons.  Physical positive actions include: exercising, eating nutritiously, healthy sleep, good hygiene and avoiding harmful substances.  Intellectual positive actions include: solving problems well, making good decisions, motivation to learn, thinking skills and the value of good memory.  Students are learning about and reflecting on how they can incorporate these healthy positive actions into their lives.  You feel good about yourself when you do positive actions, and there’s a positive way to do everything.

Counseling Department

Calling All 8th Grade Girls!!  "Girls’ Day In" is a free event for 8th-11th grade female students to get hands-on experience in career paths in which females have historically been underrepresented.  It will be held at the NEW FutureForward campus at Washington Square on January 3rd.  Please see the attached flyer for additional information and the registration link for the January 3rd event at Washington Square.

HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE  11/15/21 - 12/14/21 (Repeat)  We are collecting non-perishable food items for our families in need this holiday season.  If you can provide any donations, such as food or gift cards, it would be greatly appreciated.

Students will be competing against each other during the weeks of 11/15-12/10. Donated food items will be collected in 1st hour core classes.

These donations help support families within our school, especially in these trying times.
