Here is a synopsis of the original play, Drama Class:

Reba is a shy 7th grader who doesn’t want to stand out or make any waves. Things are going just fine in middle school until she is enrolled in drama class. She didn’t sign up for it, nor does she want to be in the class--not to mention she has extreme stage fright! In fact, this is the WORST class in the world for her! And to make matters worse, the boy she’s had a crush on forever is also in the class. There’s no way she will be able to do all of the embarrassing things she will be asked to do in front of HIM! Unfortunately, the school is not allowing schedule changes, so Reba is stuck! Come along for this hilarious and heart-warming journey with Reba and a class full of drama students, as discoveries are made, memories are revisited, relationships are created, and fears are overcome.
