Rick Figurin has been teaching in the Colorado Public Schools for over a decade. He entered public education after a successful stint working in television sports with ABC and CBS affiliates across the midwest. Figurin received his degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in speech communication from the University of Northern Colorado. Additionally, the Michigan native earned his teacher certification through Metropolitan State University as well as a master’s degree in sport administration from the University of Northern Colorado. During his time with the Adams 12 School District, he has taught 7th and 8th grade language arts, sportswriting, journalism, and literacy in addition to coaching a variety of sports. With a number of degrees in various backgrounds under his belt, Figurin finds new and exciting ways to reach students in a standards-based but real-world manner. In his free time, Figurin enjoys spending time with his wife, running, doing yoga, writing, and watching college football.
